The son of former LSU chancellor Sean O'Keefe says his father is making progress in an Alaska hospital.

Kevin O'Keefe made the statement after he was released from the Providence Alaska Medical Center last night.

Five people, including former U.S. Senator Ted Stevens, died when their plane crashed in a rugged area in southwest Alaska earlier this month.

O'Keefe, his son and two others had to wait through the night for rescuers to get to the crash scene.

They were on a fishing trip.
