The feds say a new moratorium order on deepwater drilling is coming, just hours after a judge halted the existing one.
Offshore-related companies sued the government over the six-month ban, saying it's killing business and the state's economy.
Some companies in Baton Rouge are in the same boat and say new ban or not, they're glad someone is finally on their side.
"We have a voice on the judicial side that is speaking on our behalf," said Coastal Corrosion Control, Inc. Executive Vice President Todd Williams.
"We were very excited about that, but at the same time, we were sad that they would actually file an appeal," said Cut Off trucking company owner Sheila Rousse.
The White House is filing the appeal. Industry experts say deepwater drilling could technically resume immediately, but it will probably take a few days.
