Ohio zoo: Mother dangles child over cheetah exhibit
CLEVELAND - Officials at the Cleveland zoo say they plan to seek child endangerment charges against a woman whose 2-year-old son fell into a cheetah exhibit.
Zoo officials say several witnesses saw the woman dangling the toddler over the railing yesterday before he fell about 10 feet into the pit. The cheetahs didn't go after the boy and his parents were able to jump in and pull him to safety. He was treated at a hospital for bumps and bruises.
Chris Kuhar, executive director of Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, says the zoo plans to seek child endangering charges against the mother on Monday.
A similar incident at a Pittsburgh zoo left a 2-year-old boy dead in 2012. The child was fatally mauled after falling into a wild African dog exhibit.
