JACKSON - Authorities were called to investigate a deadly crash Monday night in East Feliciana Parish.

The accident was reported just after 9 p.m. on Hwy. 68 near Hwy. 964. Authorities say the crash claimed the life of 38-year-old Jonathan Dubroc. Officials confirmed Tuesday he was the son of East Feliciana Parish Deputy Tyrone Dubroc.

Louisiana State Police say the crash happened as Jonathan was driving a 2013 GMC Sierra southbound on Hwy. 68. For reasons still under investigation, he attempted to pass an 18-wheeler in a no passing zone and ran off roadway.

Upon leaving the roadway, the vehicle struck a tree. After hitting the tree, Jonathan's vehicle caught fire. He suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at scene.

Impairment is unknown at this time. Authorities say an autopsy and toxicology report will be completed by the coroner’s office.

The crash remains under investigation.
