Officials identify 2 children killed in fire
WEST MONROE- Ouachita Parish fire investigators have identified the two children who died in a West Monroe house fire on Monday.
Investigator Curt Meachum tells The News-Star the victims were 16-month-old Josephine McMurry and 3-year-old Gwendolyn McMurry.
Meachum says the girls' father, Morgan McMurry, is in a burn unit at a Shreveport hospital.
He says the cause of the fire remains under investigation. However, he said officials narrowed down the location of ignition point to the children's bedroom.
Meachum said investigators with the State Fire Marshal's Office would arrive Friday to look into the cause of the fire.
He said the home did not contain a working smoke alarm.
