BATON ROUGE - An official donation account has been set up for murdered officers, the Baton Rouge Police Department announced Tuesday.

Baton Rouge Union of Police, Magnolia State Peace Officers Association along with the Fraternal Order of Police organized accounts at all area Capital One Bank locations. Donations can be made under the Baton Rouge Union of Police Fallen Hero’s Fund.

Baton Rouge Police officers Matt Gerald and Montrell Jackson along with East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's deputy Brad Garafola were murdered in an ambush Sunday. Three other officers - two sheriff's deputies and a Baton Rouge Police officer - were shot and injured before a SWAT officer shot and killed gunman Gavin Long with a 100 yard kill shot.

Officials have called the officers heroes for putting their lives at risk to stop a man on a mission to kill law enforcement officers.

Businesses have also announced plans to donate profits for officers.  Others have announced free lunch programs for working police officers. Click HERE to read more about community efforts.
