At least two New Orleans police officers have surrendered to face charges in a Justice Department investigation of deadly shootings on a bridge after Hurricane Katrina.
Lawyers for Sgt. Robert Gisevius and Sgt. Kenneth Bowen said their clients surrendered at FBI headquarters in New Orleans on Tuesday and were expected to make initial court appearances later in the day.
The attorneys didn't know what charges they faced.
Five former New Orleans police officers already have pleaded guilty to helping cover up the shootings on the Danziger Bridge that left two men dead and four wounded just days after the August 2005 hurricane left the city in chaos. Attorney General Eric Holder was expected to make an announcement about the case Tuesday afternoon.
