Officer injured after being dragged by car
MARRERO- Police say an officer with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Department has been injured after being dragged by a suspect's car.
Officer Monica McLaurin responded to a call of a stabbing Sunday in Marrero. When McLaurin arrived, she confronted 22-year-old Kenosha Richard in her car. As McLaurin walked up, Richard put the car in reverse. McLaurin held on and was dragged a short distance.
Officers stopped Richard arrested her. After the arrest, officers found Richard's boyfriend, 29-year-old Lamar Edmond, in a pool of blood. He was taken to University Hospital and treated for a laceration.
McLaurin was treated for injuries to her back, legs and neck.
Richard was booked on one count of attempted murder of a police officer, among other charges.
