FRANKLINTON - Deputies say a man was arrested for shooting a police officer and his neighbor before setting his mobile home on fire where the body of a woman was found.

According to Chief Deputy Mike Haley, it happened Thursday night in Franklinton when the suspect robbed and shot his neighbor.  The neighbor is hospitalized in New Orleans.

The suspect then barricaded himself in his trailer. He shot a Franklinton police officer in the arm and in the officer's bullet proof vest.  His wound is not life-threatening, said Haley.

The man was captured after attempting to leave the trailer through a window while it was in flames.

A woman's body found inside the smoking trailer is believed to be the suspect's mother.  No cause of death has been released.
