Obama to announce Kagan for Supreme Court
The Supreme Court nominee President Barack Obama will announce today has a reputation for bringing together people of competing views and earning their respect.
A source close to the selection process says that was one of the reasons Obama has settled on Solicitor General Elena Kagan.
The source says Kagan is also known as a legal mind with both a sense of modesty and sense of humor, and has worked closely with all three branches of government.
Kagan would be the first justice with no experience as a judge since William H. Rehnquist and Lewis F. Powell Jr. joined the court in 1972.
