BATON ROUGE- The final phase of construction along the O'Neal Lane corridor will start Dec. 15.
It includes adding a southbound turn lane along O'Neal and improvements at the South Harrell's Ferry intersection.
Retailers in the area say they are trying to hang on after years of construction work. Chris Cheramie with LA Boilers seafood market says his shop is offering discounts on some items, in the hopes regular customers will drive around the construction to get the deals.
Brittany Edwards of Renew Day Spa and Salon says the I-12 widening has helped some customers from Baton Rouge reach her location, and hopes the O'Neal work will also help boost business. Edwards says her staff makes confirmation calls the day before an appointment, and includes updated information about construction along with possible detour routes.
This phase is expected to take about three or four months to complete.
