NYPD investigating actress Bynes allegations
NEW YORK - The New York Police Department is investigating allegations made by actress Amanda Bynes that she was sexually assaulted by officers arresting her for throwing a bong out of a window.
NYPD spokesman Paul Browne says Saturday officers from the department's internal affairs bureau are looking into the claim "regardless of its credibility."
The allegation was part of a Twitter post believed to come from the former "Hairspray" star Saturday.
At her arraignment on Friday, Bynes made no mention of a sexual assault. She did allege that police illegally entered her apartment.
Bynes is charged with reckless endangerment. She was released on her own recognizance Friday and sternly warned not to get rearrested.
Her next court date is July 9.
