A spokesman says the USA Criminal Investigation Command at Fort Belvoir, Va., is investigating a death at Fort Polk.

Christopher Gray says 20-year-old Samantha Ortiz died at her home on the Louisiana base.

Her father, Damon R. Zippo of Yonkers, N.Y., says he's getting few answers from the Army about his daughter's death Sunday.

He tells The Leesville Daily Leader that her husband, a soldier, told him that he accidentally dropped a shotgun and it went off.

Zippo says he wants to believe his son-in-law but has a lot of questions. He says he was told Monday night that an investigation found it was accidental, but he hasn't been able to get results of the Army's autopsy.

Zippo says his daughter's funeral will be Monday in Yonkers.
