Nudity ordinance concerning strip clubs pushed back
GREENSBURG - Strip clubs are turning up the heat in St. Helena, where some are calling for a ban on the adult business.
Tuesday, the parish police jury was supposed to discuss an ordinance that would prohibit nudity and certain physical contact at establishments where alcohol is sold. The measure would mainly impact strip clubs.
But, because jurors got the final reading of the ordinance Monday night, most of them said there was not enough time to review it. Police Jury President Major Coleman was among those who said they'd like to wait to discuss the issue.
"I have not had enough time to digest the ordinance," said Coleman. "I'm offering a motion to table this until further notice."
Jurors will discuss the ordinance at a special meeting scheduled for next Tuesday, April 30 at 6 p.m.
