BATON ROUGE - Sheriff's deputies sent by a judge to search for documents related to the LSU Board of Supervisors' search for a new university president testified this afternoon that they didn't find what they were looking for.

The deputies told Judge Janice Clark, who ordered the search this morning, that LSU did not give them any documents. An attorney for the university said they were held by a private consulting firm in Dallas.

Journalists sued the university when LSU refused to release the names of candidates considered for the job but were not hired. A judge ruled the information was public and should be released, but LSU continued to refuse.

The issue culminated Tuesday morning when Judge Janice Clark threatened LSU with warrants for anyone who participated in withholding the documents requested.
