DENHAM SPRINGS - For the second year in a row, a woman in Denham Springs has set up Christmas lights in the shape of a giant middle finger.
But, in 2013, she's really taking it to another level. She told WBRZ News 2 Tuesday night, she plans to add two more to her display. Three giant middle finger displays, creating a trifecta of what neighbors call obnoxious holiday lights.
Sarah Childs, the homeowner, put the lights up on her roof in response to a continuing feud with her neighbors.
Last year, police told her to take them down. She and the ACLU sued and a judge found she should not have been told to remove the display.
When she installed the lights again this year, Childs said the electrical cords on the display were cut. She claims it was her neighbors who sabotaged them.
So, she fixed the one display and will add the other two soon.
"I could have had them displayed the whole year," said Childs. "I understand that they're offensive. I really understand that. I think they're offensive too. But sometimes when people push you to a point, you can either react in violence or you can use your first amendment right."
