SPRINGFIELD- Volunteers from North Carolina say helping people in Livingston recover from Hurricane Isaac is part of their mission.  Greg Riggs with the North Carolina Baptist Men organization tells News 2 the goal is to give people hope through Jesus Christ in time of despair.

The group has been in Louisiana more than a week.  The volunteers specialize in the initial work needed to recover from flood damage.  That includes tearing out flood damage items and material.  It also includes using a cleaner to remove any mold inside the homes.

Patrick Woodburn lives in Tiboe Plaza, where several homes received more than three feet of water.  Woodburn says some of his neighbors are elderly, making the help much more important.

The Baptist volunteers have helped with other disasters like Hurricane Katrina.
