NOPD releases image of man who opened fire, struck 2-year-old
NEW ORLEANS - Police are gathering information on a man who fired shots near a group of children Monday night, striking one of them in the leg during an apparent attempt to hit another man sitting on a porch nearby.
WWL-TV in New Orleans reports that incident happened around 8:15 p.m. Monday in the 1100 block of Governor Nicholls Street in the Tremé neighborhood.
Investigators say the 2-year-old victim was hit in the leg and is currently being treated at Children's Hospital. The girl is said to be in good condition but suffered a broken leg, according to WWL.
Residents of the neighborhood are upset by the recent violence and say the NOPD needs to crack down on the men behind the latest shooting.
New Orleans Police are looking at surveillance video footage from the area that shows a lone gunman walking up to the scene and firing his weapon.
