NOPD: Man killed after sexually assaulting woman
NEW ORLEANS - Police said a 26-year-old man who sexually assaulted a woman at gunpoint had the gun taken from him, and was then shot and killed with it last night in New Orleans.
NOPD said the shooting happened on North Rampart Street near the intersection with Alvar at around 9:30 p.m. Thursday.
Officer Garry Flot told WWL-TV that the attacker approached a man and woman as they were out walking, pointed a gun at them and demanded they go into a nearby building. Once inside, Glot said the attacker sexually assaulted the woman, and then the man with her disarmed the attacker and shot him.
Detectives found a handgun at the scene and released the male and female victims after interviewing them. Police said their investigation is ongoing.
