None hurt after reported shooting near Camp Shelby
HATTIESBURG, MS - The Mississippi National Guard says soldiers reported shots fired during a training exercise at Camp Shelby, but no service members were hurt.
The Guard said in a news release Tuesday that the Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center is secure and all personnel accounted for. The news release says the shots were fired from a road near Camp Shelby, but not on the military post's property.
Perry County Sheriff Jimmy Dale Smith previously said authorities were searching for two men who fired gunshots from a vehicle at the soldiers.
He told The Clarion-Ledger newspaper that deputies are at a residence where they found the vehicle, which he described as a red Ford Ranger with "broken arrow" written across the top.
