NEW ORLEANS - A suburban doctor was charged with making heinous threats toward law enforcement officers and the medical board.

Authorities said Dr. Shannon Ceasar, 43, referenced the recent shooting deaths of three officers, saying, "What I’ll do is make Baton Rouge look like a {expletive deleted} kindergarten." Ceasar was arrested Friday after being recorded on phone calls making the threats.

Ceasar is accused of illegally dispensing oxycodone. WWL TV reported Ceasar worked in general surgery, pathology and pain management.

As alleged, rather than doing no harm as a physician, Shannon Ceasar illegally dispensed Oxycodone into a community struggling with an epidemic of opioid addiction,”U.S. Attorney Polite said. “Then, when the governing medical board and law enforcement dared to challenge his criminality, Ceasar threatened to kill them. This level of disregard for human life, particularly from a physician, is absolutely despicable.”

If convicted, Ceasar could face up to 20 years in jail on the drug charges, and up to 10 years in jail for the threats against law enforcement.

A picture posted on WWLTV.com (and above) showed numerous firearms Ceasar is said to have had in his posession.
