Nola, Bregman receive annual SEC honors

BATON ROUGE - The SEC honored two LSU players with overall awards today, and named nine to its annual All-SEC teams.

LSU's Aaron Nola received the SEC Pitcher of the Year award, while shortstop Alex Bregman was named Freshman of the Year.

Both made the All-SEC First Team, along with teammates Christian Ibarra, Mason Katz, and Raph Rymes. LSU also had the most players named to the All-SEC First Team with five.

Jacoby Jones was named to the All-SEC second team. Bregman was also named to the All-Freshman team, while Katz and Ibarra were also named to the All-Defensive team.

LSU is the number four national seed for the NCAA baseball tournament, which gets underway Friday.
