No property taxes this year in Pollock
POLLOCK - Officials in the central Louisiana town of Pollock have agreed not to collect property taxes this year.
The Town Talk of Alexandria reports that Mayor Jerome Scott asked the town council not to impose the town's 7.52- mill tax this year. Scott notes that the town is nearly debt-free.
The council unanimously voted July 9 to not send out property tax notices this year. The town reserves the right to send out notices in the future if necessary. The move does not affect parish or state taxes.
Residents told the newspaper they are happy about the move. Elsa Scott said she'll save close to $1,000 because she owns several properties in town.
