BATON ROUGE- A fare increase is no longer on the table after a meeting among leaders of the Capital Area Transit System Tuesday afternoon.
Increasing fares by a quarter will instead be studied and not discussed for about a month. The increase would have come as fares for transfers would be canceled.
But, the board approved new bus routes set for 2014. The city's governing body, Metro Council, has the final say on that move.
Also, interim CEO Bob Mirabito's contract was extended. He said, "I'm pleased they want me to continue working for them."
Ben Miller joined the board Tuesday night as a new member. Three other openings will be filled next month after members resigned earlier this year amid a scandal dealing with missing money.
