No charges for man who shot cousin's kidnapper
LAFAYETTE - A Lafayette Parish grand jury has declined to bring charges against a man in the fatal shooting of a suspect accused of abducting and stabbing his cousin.
The shooting happened in November after Bethany Arceneaux was abducted from a day care center where she was picking up her child.
Authorities said the suspect was her ex-boyfriend, 29-year-old Scott Thomas.
Thomas held Arceneaux at an abandoned house for two days before relatives found her.
Thomas was fatally shot by 23-year-old Marcus Arceneaux, the woman's cousin.
Thomas began stabbing Bethany Arceneaux after relatives arrived to rescue her and authorities said it appeared that Marcus Arceneaux fired to save his cousin's life.
