No charges against Ascension Parish Planning Commissioners
DONALDSONVILLE - Ascension Parish District Attorney Ricky Babin says there will be no charges filed against two members of the Parish Planning Commission accused of abusing their positions.
Houmas House Plantation owner Kevin Kelly says commissioners Daniel Saterlee and Milton Clouatre, Jr., asked him to back a parish zoning change in exchange for an approval of a project on the plantation grounds.
Babin said the evidence did not indicate Saterlee and Clouatre were asking for anything that would benefit them personally, which is needed to prove extortion or abuse of power.
Kelly says he will move forward with $35 million dollars in improvements on the grounds. The plans include a restaurant, two museums, a hotel and bed and breakfast cottages.
