NO businessman's bond revoked
NEW ORLEANS - A federal magistrate has revoked bond of a New Orleans businessman awaiting sentencing for bribing a former Plaquemines Parish sheriff.
U.S. Magistrate Joseph Wilkinson ruled Friday that Aaron Bennett violated terms of his bond when he gambled at a Mississippi casino in 2011 and racked up an unpaid gambling debt of more than $10,000.
Wilkinson ordered him jailed pending his sentencing on Nov. 13 for bribing former Sheriff Irvin "Jiff" Hingle. Bennett faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.
