A family lawyer says a New Jersey college student killed himself last week after he was allegedly secretly recorded having sex.
Paul Mainardi, a lawyer for the 18-year-old's family, said Wednesday that Tyler Clementi was "a fine young man and a distinguished musician."
A law enforcement official says the student's license and Rutgers University ID were found in a wallet left on the George Washington Bridge on Sept. 22 after two witnesses saw him jump. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because a body hasn’t been recovered.
Two Rutgers students have been charged with illegally recording Clementi having sex and broadcasting the images via an Internet chat program.
Mainardi told The Star-Ledger of Newark that one of the defendants was Clementi's roommate.
