Nine lawmakers will "sell" budget compromise Thursday
BATON ROUGE- Legislative leaders will do a last-ditch sales pitch Thursday morning, hoping to get a budget compromise passed before time runs out at the end of the day.
Governor Bobby Jindal said he backs a deal reached late Wednesday, which includes a $69 million increase in public school funding next year.
Negotiators said they will present the $25 billion plan to their individual delegations Thursday morning for consideration, with hopes an agreement will be final before the legislative session must end at 6 p.m.
A budget must get the support of a majority of lawmakers for approval.
