News 2 Investigation: Human Trafficking
BATON ROUGE - News 2 Investigates human trafficking in South Louisiana. During a two week sting, State police arrested 85 people, including 32 in Baton Rouge.
Rosa Flores interviewed a woman who was pulled into the sex trade at the age of 12. We don't identify the woman for her safety; but she gives us a clear account of how she fell victim. In the middle of all the painful memories, she found an elementary class picture. It's the only memento she owns. At the age of 42, she turned her life around. She started a non-profit organization to help woman escape trafficking and prostitution. Currently, she is helping a safe house in New Orleans help women in our area leave the sex trade.
The closest trafficking victim safe house in our area is in New Orleans. A safe house is set to open in Livingston parish in the spring of 2013.
