New stamps commemorate Civil War, Reagan, Indy 500
WASHINGTON - Postage stamps honoring the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, the centennial of President Ronald Reagan's birth, and the 50th anniversary of America's first manned spaceflight are part of the lineup of new stamps for 2011.
Another anniversary to be commemorated by the U.S. Postal Service next year is the centennial of the Indianapolis 500.
The Postal Service announced its new stamps on Tuesday.
Also set for postal honors: Latin music stars, congresswoman Barbara Jordan of Texas, author Mark Twain and jazz.
Other performers getting the star treatment include actor Gregory Peck, actress Helen Hayes and a roster of Disney Pixar movie characters from Buzz Lightyear in "Toy Story" to the robotic title character of "WALL*E."
