The 35-car ferry between St. Francisville and New Roads is out of service after an oil leak developed in one of the vessel's main engines.

A 17-car ferry boat will be moved from Edgard to the New Roads/St. Francisville ferry landing to permit service to resume by Wednesday.

Vehicle restrictions for the 17-car ferries are no trailers, no more than two axles per vehicle and no more than six wheels.

Large trucks and trailers were advised to use the Interstate 10 Mississippi River Bridge or U.S. 190 Mississippi River Bridge.
