New Roads parades should roll as scheduled
NEW ROADS - The two parades scheduled to roll in New Roads for Fat Tuesday will proceed despite threats of rain, according to parade organizers.
Organizers said they'll cede any decision to postpone the parade to the mayor of New Roads, who may make a decision tomorrow morning.
The parades have rolled for decades despite bad weather in the past.
"We know the parade is going to roll no matter what, because through the years we've seen freezing cold weather, one year the poor little queen had rain dripping off her nose, but through the years we the parade still rolls and we have a wonderful time," said Lynelle Gay, who was preparing for the parade.
The New Roads Community Center Carnival is scheduled to roll at 10:30 a.m. through downtown New Roads. The New Roads Lion's Club parade will roll at 2:00 p.m.
