New reality series to focus on Trina and Edwin Edwards
BATON ROUGE - Former governor Edwin Edwards and his new wife are the focus of the latest reality TV series to come out of Louisiana.
Production on "The Governor's Wife" has already finished, and it is scheduled to air on A&E Feb. 27.
According to reports, the show focuses on how Trina Edwards, 34, fits in with the family of her 85-year-old husband, including their attempts to have a child.
The two married after Edwards was released from federal prison, where he spent eight years after a racketeering conviction.
A number of reality TV programs have come out of Louisiana because of the lucrative tax credits offered by the state to film productions, including "Swamp People" and "Duck Dynasty." Producers for "The Governor's Wife" have applied for tax credits, but the final amount for their production has not been approved.
