New Orleans police: woman's body in trash can
NEW ORLEANS - New Orleans police say a city building inspector opened a garbage can and found the partly clad body of a woman who had been stabbed to death.
Officer Frank Robertson III says the inspector moved the can to get down an alley about noon Wednesday and opened it because it felt so heavy.
He says the inspector had been surveying an abandoned house but the trash can was behind an occupied house. The woman has not been identified.
Police say investigators are interviewing witnesses, gathering evidence and working to learn a motive.
The body was found about noon on Danneel Street in the Central City neighborhood.
