New Orleans police sergeant suspended following arrest
NEW ORLEANS - New Orleans police say a veteran officer has been placed on emergency suspension after he was arrested on charges of filing or maintaining false public records and theft of goods over $1,500.
In news release, police say Tuesday's arrested of Sgt. Ashish Shah came after an investigation of possible criminal behavior involving an off-duty detail.
A police spokesman says details about the alleged criminal behavior were not being released, citing an on-going criminal investigation.
Shah is a 17-year veteran of the department and most recently was assigned to the 4th District.
Jail officials couldn't provide the name of a defense attorney to comment on the charges.
