New Orleans police: Driver towed SUV with 3 children inside
NEW ORLEANS- Police are investigating an incident in which a tow truck driver towed an SUV with three children inside.
New Orleans Police Officer Garry Flot tells local media that a woman parked her SUV at an apartment complex in the city's Algiers neighborhood and stepped away for about two minutes, leaving her 6-year-old, 4-year-old and 7-month-old children inside. During that time, a tow truck driver began taking the vehicle to a lot in the Mid-City neighborhood.
Driver Philip Spencer says he towed the SUV because it was illegally parked. He says he didn't notice the children until he arrived at the lot and was writing on the car's windshield. When he noticed them, he says he called 911 immediately.
Flot says the children were not injured.
