New Magnolia Bridge to open next week
DENHAM SPRINGS - The new Magnolia Bridge is expected to open next week, the Department of Transportation and Development announced in a news release.
LA 64 from LA 1019 (In Denham Springs) to LA 37 (Greenwell Springs Road in Baton Rouge), the eastbound and westbound lanes will be shifted onto the new bridge beginning Thursday, April 26.
The shift will happen around midday, weather permitting.
As part of the construction phasing, the new bridge will be opened to one lane of traffic in each direction until work is complete on the bridge approaches and all lanes can be opened to traffic.
Motorists should expect intermittent delays on Thursday, April 26 from 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., while crews install temporary striping and shift traffic.
Use US-190 as an alternate route.
