New government takes over in West Feliciana
ST. FRANCISVILLE- A change to parish government finally arrived Monday night as Kevin Couhig took the oath of office as the first parish president.
As voted upon by West Feliciana residents, Couhig will lead the transformation from a police jury to a parish council. He was elected two weekends ago.
Couhig said one of his priorities will be business.
"West Feliciana is open for business," he said. "We want to be welcome to the business community. We want to ask people who are interested in building here to meet with us. We need new businesses we need new people. We are going to be a very welcoming community."
Police jurors were also sworn in as council members.
