New fire trucks in Maringouin
MARINGOUIN - The town of Maringouin has two new fire trucks on the road, thanks to $700,000 in hurricane recovery money.
Town officials used the money to buy a pumper truck and a rescue pumper.
Mayor John Overton says Hurricane Gustav served as a wake-up call for the region, after high winds knocked down trees and power lines all over town.
Overton says the town needs reliable equipment to handle that type of emergency, plus the day to day calls.
