New challenger enters Senate race
BATON ROUGE - A retired Air Force colonel from Madisonville says he plans to run for the U.S. Senate next year, seeking to oust Democratic incumbent Mary Landrieu.
Rob Maness, a Republican who said he works for Entergy Services Inc. and owns a family farm, announced his candidacy Monday.
He said he's running against Landrieu's support of President Obama's policies, which he says are hurting the economy and citizens' freedom.
Republican U.S. Rep. Bill Cassidy announced plans to challenge Landrieu for the seat last month.
Landrieu is in her third term. The election will be held in November 2014.
