BATON ROUGE - Mayor Kip Holden signed an ordinance to relax the city's blue laws and allow bars to sell alcohol on Sundays.
Today, bar owners in the area said they're happy they now have the option.
"We hope it helps more people come to the areas on Sunday's," said Zippy's owner Neal Hendrick. "It will kind of bringing more synergy to the area, and we're looking forward to it."
Bars can now open on Sunday's from 11 a.m. to midnight. Stores will sell alcohol before 11 a.m.
"I kind of think the point of the whole ordinance was to kind of spread the love around between everybody," said Hendrick.
Not every bar will be taking advantage of the new hours, some bars and restaurants say it's not worth opening one more day.
The new hours take effect immediately.
