Neighbors reach out to family whose home burned
ST. AMANT- Neighbors are opening their hearts and wallets to a St. Amant family who lost everything to a house fire.
The Guedry family says people in the community have been donating essentials like clothes and food ever since their house went up in flames Thursday morning.
Trulena Guedry says her husband and her four children are staying with relatives right now, but plan to rebuild on the same land.
"People we don't even know are coming in and donating stuff. It feels really good to have support for this. Now it's just rebuild," she said.
The family told firefighters they lost power overnight and lit candles so their kids could see to get ready for school. The fire started when a candle was knocked over on the floor.
Everyone made it out alive, expect for the family's two pets.
