BATON ROUGE- Neighbors who live in the Mayfair subdivision are demanding changes after a shooting occurred over the weekend.

The victim happened to be the 15-year old son of Metro Councilman Chandler Loupe. This afternoon, detectives charged another 15 year old who was with him for attempted possession of marijuana.  Investigators say, Loupe's son was shot during an alleged drug deal.

"I'm concerned about his son," Mary Thornton said.  "It hurts me to my heart for any child to get hurt."

Some residents believe the empty light poles in their neighborhood need to be adorned with crime cameras.  Those cameras have come under fire recently by Metro Council members.  Some are questioning whether they work and if spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to maintain them is worth it.

"You've got to move them where crimes are happening," Councilman Trae Welch said.  "There's no question about it."

Some neighbors say until they see real changes made, they will take their own precautions.

"I'm inside at 6 p.m.," Thornton said. "I don't come outside.  You don't know what's going to happen."
