Neighbors on edge after burglaries near Kenilworth
BATON ROUGE- Baton Rouge Police are investigating at least six home burglaries near the Kenilworth area last week.
The break-ins stretched from Kenilworth to Lake Calais. Investigators said all of them happened while people were either at work or on vacation.
Bob Mathews lives in Kenilworth and wasn't surprised by the news.
"Several of my neighbors have been robbed," Mathews said. "But not me, because I've got a burglar alarm and I set it every time I go."
Raye Beck has lived in the same house near Kenilworth since 1958, and said neighbors are always looking out for one another.
"I had a strange truck in my driveway, and people in my neighborhood saw it and called me to see if I was alright," Beck said.
It turned out just to be a food vendor. However, with the latest news of break-ins near her home, she's not taking any chances.
"We practice all the things they tell us to, keep our houses sound and locked, and be careful who we talk to," Beck said.
Last year Baton Rouge Police investigated 3,825 burglaries according to spokesperson Cpl. Tommy Stubbs. If you have any information about the most recent burglaries, contact BRPD.
