BATON ROUGE- The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality and the East Baton Rouge Department of Public Works is looking into a neighborhood's complaints about a man dumping oyster shells on his property.
The area is off of Antioch Road near Tiger Bend in Baton Rouge.
They say the smell and rodents from the hundreds of piles have been a nuisance for years, and they've had enough. Some neighbors say their backyards even hold more water now when it rains because of the collection.
The owner of the property says he wasn't aware of anyone nearby having a problem with his shell piles. He says he's using them to put on his driveway.
When News 2 started asking questions Monday, so did the state and city-parish, and now the owner says he'll start cleaning up the area. However, investigations by both agencies continue.
