BATON ROUGE - St. George Fire Department personnel are on the scene of a natural gas rupture in the Shenandoah area.

A natural gas line ruptured after a road-repair crew hit it a short time ago near the intersection of Confederate Ave. and New Market Drive.

Six homes have been evacuated in the area. No injuries have been reported.

St. George officials say it could be contained in a hour or two. Flames are at 12-15 ft. high at the moment.

As of this time there is no access to Confederate Ave. between Antioch and Tiger Bend.

We'll have more information soon from our crew on the scene.
