National School Choice week begins today
BATON ROUGE - National School Choice kicks off today across the country. More than half of American parents say they want more options when it comes to their children's education.
Seven states in the United States allow parents to choose any public school in their district, but Louisiana isn't one of them. It's one of 16 states that allow choices but with some limitations. Other options include attending a public school outside of your district, a public, magnet or online school, private school or home-schooling.
Thousands of events are taking place this week to help educate parents on the options available for their students.
The Louisiana tour beings today in New Orleans before making its way to Baton Rouge this week. The American Federation for Children will host the informational get together from 10-11 a.m. At Kenilworth Science & Technology Charter School.
