National pro-life organization visits Baton Rouge
BATON ROUGE - Protesters from across the country were in Baton Rouge Thursday to rally against abortion.
More than 100 people gathered outside Delta Women's Clinic chanting, singing and praying in an effort to spread their message.
A majority of the protestors were members of "Operation Save America," a Christian group that tours the country and preaches outside women's clinics. Every year they choose a new city, and this year they chose New Orleans. Thursday, they sent half their group to Baton Rouge.
"We're here to give help to the moms and babies," said Cal Zastro, pro-life activist. "And trust in God that child sacrifice will end."
The clinic is usually open Thursdays, but was closed and barricaded from the public by police.
Group leaders say they're not giving up the fight anytime soon.
"We're going to stay until justice is done," said pro-life activist, Richard Mahoney. "And innocent babies are protected by law. And people who kill innocent babies are prosecuted."
