N.O. police arrest man in toddler's shooting death
NEW ORLEANS - New Orleans police have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with the shooting death of a toddler.
Police said in a news release Wednesday night that Keelen Armstrong has been booked with first-degree murder in the slaying of 13-month-old Londyn Samuels. He was also booked with attempted first-degree murder in the wounding of the child's caretaker.
Police said Armstrong was pulled over Wednesday morning during a traffic stop. Officers discovered outstanding warrants and brought him to jail, where detectives determined that he was a suspect in the girl's death.
Detectives believe there is at least one more person responsible for the shooting.
The child was being held by an 18-year-old baby-sitter who was wounded in the Thursday night shooting. Her wounds were not life-threatening.
